· Power(s): Pyrokinetic; AMarlena is able to create fire through the excitation of molecules, this is a primarily psionic ability. She is able to maintain and control any fire, including the size and intensity of the fire. She can create, shape and manipulate fire -- the rapid oxidation of materials in the exothermic chemical process of combustion that releases heat, light, and various reaction products while flames are the visible portion of the fire.
Transmorph; In addition to creating and controlling fire, Marlena has the unique ability to transmorph into a flame form. It is beyond allowing the flames to cover her body but actually her total being combusting into a condensed flame. In this form, she is impervious to physical injury but in a submerged or oxygen starved environment, the flames are snuffed out and she returns to a normal human physique. While in the transmorphed state, flight is possible.
· History: Just another California girl. Born into a good, honest family in the heart of suburban San Bernardino. Margaret and Anthony worked at one of the public high school's together; she as the guidance counselor and he as the Oceanography instructor. Marlena was born and was constantly going to different doctors to see if there was any reason why she always seemed to be running a fever, even when she insisted that she felt fine. As a result, she was constantly being kept home and away from the other children as she grew up and by the time she reached middle school, she had had enough of being confined.

Just like any other pre-teen, she had her rebellious phase but she ended up finding the pyro bug seeded deep within her. After several small fires, her parents began to enforce their rules more and more. On Christmas morning when Marlena was thirteen, she didn't get the video game that she wanted. As a thirteen year old girl is wont to do, she threw a tantrum but it was anything but a typical tantrum. When Marlena stomped her foot on the ground, flames erupted at the contact and caught her pajamas on fire. Anthony quickly put out the fire and the emergency professionals were called. Much to the surprise of everyone involved, there wasn't a single burn on her body despite having been completely covered in flames mere moments before.

After that Christmas, fires had a tendency to follow Marlena. Police accused her of being a blossoming arsonist but her parents felt differently. Margaret had heard of students at the school, and neighboring schools, developing "special" abilities that would not be considered humanly possible. The family started to think that perhaps Marlena was among them and one day encouraged her to get as angry as possible, wanting to see if they could create another Christmas incident. Without fail, it happened again but this time she actually became the fire rather than catching fire.

It took some searching but the family found the Valerius Institute and enrolled her for the rest of her high school career, and if possible, throughout her college years as well. They felt it would be best to get a high quality education while Marlena learned how to reign in her dangerous power.
